Wellbeing at Whitechapel.
At Whitechapel C of E Primary School, we have a dedicated wellbeing team, who work together to support mental health and wellbeing for our school community.

What does well-being mean?
How we’re feeling, Being kind, Asking people if they’re ok, How we play with each other, Helping people, Loving everyone, Sharing toys, Happy and safe/calm, Being respectful and kind, Being physically healthy as well as mentally healthy, Friends, Learning, Attention, Teachers, Playing, Art, Reading, Not being poorly, Eat more fruit, Care of our bodies, Teachers / respect, Exercise, School grounds, using nice words to other people/give positive feedback, giving to others – e.g. charities, helping others, people staying healthy and active, making friends with others.
How do you stay happy at school?
Telling people jokes, Being kind, Getting dojos, Playing with different people, Learning together, Making friends, Giving people hugs, Think happy thoughts, Spending time with friends, Let people play with you, Lunch, Learning, Read/relax, Football, Singing assembly, Read/other activities with other year groups, Different visitors, Challenging work, Hugs/smiles, Teachers help you/keep you safe, Giving compliments, Bright displays.
Well-being afternoon Spring 1 2023 (activities included mindfullness colouring, jigsaw building, motivational quotes, rock painting, chatty doll making, yoga and feelings/colour matching):

Well-being afternoon Spring 2 2023 (activities were based around the importance of sleep):
“learned not to use electronics before bed”
“good and taught me how to relax before bed so that I can sleep better”
“meditation will help you to calm down and sleep better”
“don’t eat chocolate before bed because it has got caffeine in it so will keep you awake”
“I found the afternoon really relaxing and taught me how to help me fall asleep easier”
“cool afternoon, learned about things that might help me sleep like eating and drinking the right things and doing relaxing things before bed".

Reception- What did you learn in our well-being afternoon? “We learned that we are all the best and they were teaching us to be resilient”.
YR1 “ helps your brain to be healthy and ready for learning”.
YR2 “Brain breaks keep you focussed, calm, relaxed and happy”.
YR3- “This afternoon we listened to music which calmed us down”.
“We did yoga and I felt like it made my bones relax”.

Support in school:
Staff in school have strategies for supporting children and will take swift action of any emerging issues that may occur.
Our pastoral team works with children, families and other professionals to ensure positive and beneficial outcomes are met.
